Central Bicol State University of Agriculture - Calabanga Campus Library

VISION

To become a premier learning and research center of the CBSUA community and its stakeholders by providing an excellent library services.

MISSION

The University Library shall provide the highest level of information and quality services to students and other stakeholders in pursuit of the university's commitment to academic excellence.

GOALS

In order to realize the University Library's Vision and Mission, the following Goals are set:
1. Identify and acquire relevant and updated printed, electronic and digital learning resources and facilities;
2. Manage efficiently various library resources through an automated and systematic process;
3. Assist library clients promptly and;
4. Render referral assistance and online services.

LIBRARY SECTIONS

1. Circulation Section
This serves as the center of library activity for most customers because this is the place where the customers make the first contact with a library. It contains textbooks, general circulation books & other references.

2. Reference Section
This contains primary reference sources such as dictionaries, encyclopedias, almanacs, yearbooks, handbooks, manuals, atlases, guidebooks, biographical resources, etc.

3. Reserve Section
This contains books for the different courses which are in great demand during the semester.  It can limit access because books placed on reserve and their loan period is limited.  The reserve services expand access by making books in demand always available when needed even for a short period.

4. Filipiniana Section
This consists of books and other materials authored by Filipino and even foreigner that discusses with relations to the history, language, culture, values, and insights of the Filipino and the Philippines.

5. Theses/Dissertations
This includes dissertation and thesis manuscripts of graduate and undergraduate students.

6. Serials
This covers a wide range of materials such as newspapers, magazines, journals, pamphlets, leaflets, proceedings, etc.

7. E-Research Section
this contains information in a digitized format using research database portal, which may include: e-books, e-journals, e-reference, etc.

8. Inter-Library Loan Service
This service is given to CBSUA students, faculty and staff who may want to use the resources of other institutions and libraries on a specified time. A CBSUA researcher provided with a referral letter issued by the Campus Librarian. Only bonafide students, faculty and staff can avail of this service.

LENDING POLICIES

Students
1. Books from any sections of the library may be borrowed starting 8:00 am and must be returned within the day to avoid overdue.

2. Books can be borrowed for overnight use starting 4:00 pm and must be returned on or before 9:00 am of the next school day.

3. Fiction books may be borrowed for home use at 9:00 am and must be returned on or before 9:00 am for five (5) school days and maybe renewed for another five (5) school days if there is no demand for the book;

4. The Students can borrow a maximum of three (3) books from any sections of the library at a time provided that lending policy on these resources is strictly observed;

5. Dictionaries, encyclopedias, yearbooks, almanacs, atlases and other general references, theses, dissertation, journals, magazines, newspapers, pamphlets, vertical file materials, DVD tapes, CD tapes, cassette tapes, maps, globes, and posters may borrow and use inside the library only;

6. All books borrowed should returned on the date stamped on the due date slip.  Otherwise, library fine shall be imposed according to the approved rate of library fine.

Faculty and Staff
1. A regular faculty & staff can borrow a maximum of five (5) books.  The books shall be returned  for a maximum of three (3) days from any sections of the library at a time except for the books in Reserve, General Reference, Serials, Theses/Dissertation Section that the lending policy on these resources shall strictly observed.

2. Contract of Service (COS) faculty and staff is allowed to borrow book/s provided that there will be a guarantor (regular faculty or staff) who do not have an overdue book/s and does not exceed the allowable number of books to borrow.

3. All books borrowed should be returned promptly on the date stamped on the date due slip; otherwise, library fine shall be imposed according to the approved rate of library fine.

LOST BOOKS

1. A lost book must be reported immediately to the library staff on duty to avoid the accumulation of fines;

2. A book reported lost must be replaced with the latest edition of the same title not later than two (2) weeks after the librarian has notified of its loss. If the book is out of print a replacement of book with related subject of current edition will be accepted after a thorough search of the original book/s in the various bookstores. 

3. Accrued fines shall be charged after the librarian has notified the concerned person regarding the lost book reported.

MUTILATION AND STEALING OF LIBRARY RESOURCES

Any client who shall deface, mutilate, steal any library materials or property shall be required to replace the materials/property. It shall also be subjected to disciplinary action that will be facilitated by the Office of Student Affairs & Services (OSAS).

NON-PRINT RESOURCES UTILIZATION GUIDELINES

1. Faculty/Staff/Students may request the use of the Multi-Purpose Room and  non-print materials during library hours only;

2. Damages of borrowed non-print materials and equipment due to mishandling shall be charged to the borrower/s;

3. Non-print materials shall be returned to the library immediately after use to accommodate other borrower/s;

4. Overnight use of non-print materials is not allowed.

SPECIFIC PROVISIONS FOR EXTERNAL CLIENTS

1. Any client not connected with the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) who wants to avail of the services of the Library must present the following:
                                
a.Validated School I.D./Employees I.D./PRC I.D.
b. Request / Referral letter from the librarian of the school he/she is presently enrolled (if the client is a student.)

2. He/She can use the Library resources for room use reading only. For the photocopy of the library material, the borrower will be accompanied by the library student assistant to bring out the material and must leave his/her validated I.D.

PROPER CONDUCT IN THE LIBRARY

Proper conduct of all library clients should religiously observe. Unnecessary noise, loud conversation, smoking, eating and defacing library furniture and equipment is strictly prohibited.  Any violation hereof is subject to disciplinary action according to the university policies.

SECURITY AND CONTROL OF LIBRARY RESOURCES

1. All clients and other stakeholders shall leave their bags at the baggage counter before they can enter the library.  He / She shall bring all his/her valuables, e.g., wallets, cell phones, jewelry, money, etc. Library staff is not liable for any missing/lost item;

2. Only bags, folders, & envelopes are allowed to  deposit at the baggage counter;

3. Bags/items that  stored in the baggage counter shall claim when the clients leave the library;

4. Any clients who lost the claim tag shall be subjected to library guidance for proper identification and shall provide a replacement for the lost claim tag;

5. The clients shall register in registration system and or logbook when they enter the library.

LIBRARY CLEARANCE

At the end of each semester, summer and or school year clearance shall sign by the librarian provided that all accountabilities have been settled by the students, faculty, and staff respectively.

PROVISIONS FOR PWDs, PREGNANT WOMEN, AND SENIOR CITIZEN

The University Library give priority for the Person with Disabilities (PWD), Pregnant Women and Senior Citizens with regards to services requested to the University Library as mandated in the laws appertaining thereof respectively.
